HerStory: Celebrating Women’s Triumphs Across Generations

“HerStory: Celebrating Women’s Triumphs Across Generations” is RUWIB’s annual gathering that serves as a powerful platform to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of women across diverse backgrounds and generations, creating a space for inspiration, mentorship, and community building. The event, now transitioning to a conference-style format, is seeking to provide a richer and more immersive experience for attendees. The theme, “Celebrating Women’s Triumphs Across Generations,” underscores the significance of acknowledging the diverse journeys and achievements of women in various stages of their careers. By bringing together seasoned professionals, emerging leaders, and students, HerStory facilitates meaningful interactions, networking opportunities, and mentorship connections that transcend generational boundaries.

The event started with our Keynote Speaker, Assistant Deputy, Jeanne Stahl. She is a New Jersey Public Defender and is part of the Division of Mental Health Advocacy. She discussed both the struggles of being a woman in her field and accomplishments she has garnered throughout her experiences. The event continues to Breakout Session #1 with a STEM Panel, Entrepreneurship Panel, and Media Panel. The STEM Panel was comprised of exceptional professionals; Maggie Murray, Project Manager at Pullman, Samantha Lopez, Assistant Project Manager at Pullman, and Sanjana Anur, Quality and Process Improvement Engineer at Kering. Conversely, the Entrepreneurship Panel was kickstarted by the co-owners of Kanela Cafe, sisters Dina Tampasis and Demi Tampasis. Meanwhile, the Media Panel was directed by Kwani A. Lunis, a Digital Content Producer & Entertainment/ Lifestyle Host and Correspondent at NBC Sports Boston. As Breakout Session #1 concluded, the audience is led towards the Life After College Panel with our speakers, Marizol Rodriguez, a First-Year Credit Analyst at JPMorgan, and Amy Korner, a Senior Associate for University Talent Acquisition at KPMG. Breakout Session #2 begins with a Beauty Panel, Personal Finance Panel, and Sports Management Panel. The Beauty Panel is spearheaded by Cynthia Watson, Senior Director at Revlon, and Yasmin Awad, Distribution Area Manager at Estēe Lauder. The Personal Finance Panel introduced Financial Analyst at JPMorgan, Christopher Latonnel. Lastly, Sports Management Panel was brilliantly led by Taylor Jo Gillen, Manager-On-Duty at Drop.

Overall, RUWIB’s “HerStory: Celebrating Women’s Triumphs Across Generations” was a successful event, paving way for the student body to learn more about the different career paths in the business field while also networking with professionals!
